For Nervous Patients

If the dentist makes you nervous, you're not alone - and you don't have to hide it.

Many of our patients arrive apprehensive, sometimes carrying a bad experience from another office. That's completely normal, and it's something we're especially good at helping with.

It's okay to tell us you're nervous.

The most helpful thing you can do is let us know. When we know you're anxious, we can change how we work with you - and we want to. You won't embarrass us, and you won't embarrass yourself. We've heard it before, and we're glad when patients tell us.

How we help

We start by listening

There's no single trick to easing dental anxiety. It starts with paying attention to you as an individual.

We ask how you're feeling

Before we begin, we check in. If something's worrying you, we want to know about it.

We listen to past experiences

If a previous dental visit was difficult, tell us. It helps us do better by you this time.

We watch for signs

We pay attention to body language and tension, and we check in when we notice.

We explain what's happening

We describe what we're about to do before we do it, so nothing catches you off guard.

We discuss your options

You always have choices. We'll lay them out and let you decide what feels right.

We let you set the pace

Your concerns influence how fast we move and how we communicate. You can ask us to slow down.

Knowing what to expect can help

A lot of dental anxiety comes from the unknown - not knowing what will happen, how it will feel, or whether you'll have a say. We try to remove that uncertainty by explaining everything, every step of the way.

If you'd like to know what a first visit looks like before you come in, read our Your First Visit page. No surprises, no pressure.

Questions are welcome

Some offices make you feel like asking questions is an interruption. Not here. Ask us anything - before, during, or after your appointment. The more you understand, the more comfortable you'll feel.

Your past dental experience doesn't have to define the next one.

A bad experience somewhere else doesn't mean every dental visit has to feel that way. We've helped plenty of nervous patients feel at ease - not by being magical, but by being patient, honest, and attentive.

For practice review

We don't claim "pain-free dentistry," and we don't promise sedation or medication options unless the practice verifies what's available. If specific comfort options are confirmed, they can be added here.
